Optometrist
Dr. Kaczmarek is from Hartland, MI and a 2014 graduate of Hartland High School. He studied biology/pre-optometry at Saginaw Valley State University and was an active member of their marching band, jazz ensemble, and percussion ensemble. Prior to the completion of his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Kaczmarek was accepted to the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University through their early admission program. Throughout his first year of optometry school, he completed the requirements to achieve a bachelor’s degree in Vision Science. During his externship year, Dr. Kaczmarek gained valuable experience with primary care, specialty contact lenses, and ocular disease in various practice modalities all over Michigan. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2021 with highest honors.
Eyecare Connection has been a part of Dr. Kaczmarek’s life since he was a child. His parents, Paul and Cindy, opened Eyecare Connection in 1989. During his childhood, Dr. Kaczmarek observed his parents as they ran a successful business and gained valuable insight into all things optical while working alongside them. He also worked with and shadowed Dr. David Klar, the former primary optometrist at Eyecare Connection for the last 30 years, and developed a passion for helping people. He gradually took on more business responsibilities and worked as a certified optician at Eyecare Connection for several years prior to optometry school. Dr. Kaczmarek has now returned to Eyecare Connection as an optometrist. He enjoys practicing full-scope optometry: specialty contact lens fits; treating dry eye; and managing ocular diseases such as keratoconus, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. Patients appreciate Dr. Kaczmarek’s thorough exams and patient education and thankfully put up with his sense of humor.
Dr. Kaczmarek met his wife, Dr. Kelsey Kaczmarek, in optometry school and they got married in October of 2022. They have settled in Commerce and cherish time with their dog, Nora, who is a 10-pound cavapoo. Their favorite hobby together is a competitive round of mini golf. Dr. Kaczmarek also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and on the grill.
